Those sources are pure speculation. The cards do not exist yet so there is no way to even have an educated guess on price or performance. The GTX 770 and the HD 7970Ghz Ed. can be had for roughly the same price right now and they are roughly equal in performance. The GTX 770 will probably gain some performance with driver updates while the HD 7970 probably will not being a year and a half old already. The HD 7970 comes with the game bundle though.

If you are going with multiple cards I recommend Nvidia. The HD 7xxx series has bad micro stuttering and frame latency issues especially in Crossfire.

My advice is if you want to max every game out with one card and can afford it get the GTX 780. It's expensive but overclocked equals and...

I would go with the single faster card. The AMD 7xxx series has bad issues with micro stuttering and frame latency when they are Crossfired. Even with the FPS looking close the single GTX 770 will give you a better overall experience. The GTX 780 even better if you can afford it. The GTX 780 and the Titan are the only single cards that can max all the games out today even Crysis 3 at 1920 x 1080.

Yes your HD 7850 is an AMD Radeon. They will release the 8xxx series sometime near the end of this year or early next year is the best guess.

No those are OEM cards or just rebranded 7xxx series. No info exists on the retail 8xxx series yet. The best place I know of for speculation is here:

http://videocardz.com/

Based on the benchmarks in the following review of two OC'ed HIS Radeon HD 7850 IceQ TurboX 2GB Crossfire vs. a stock speed Diamond Radeon HD 7970, the average performance increase is approximately 31% when looking at the 1920x1200 benchmarks.

http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/4798/his_radeon_hd_7850_iceq_x_turbox_2gb_in_crossfire_video_card_review/index6.html

The biggest performance increase is in HAWX 2 which is just above 56%.

The lowest performance increase is in Mafia 2 which is barely above 10%.

=================================================

As I stated, the average performance increase is about 31% above the stock speed Radeon HD 7970. Looking at the performance chart below of relative performance at 1920x1200 resolution, a stock speed Radeon HD 7970 has 71% the performance of the Asus GTX 780 DC II OC 3GB card.

With an average 31% increase in performance (71% x 131% or 71% x 1.31), that means the two OC'ed Radeon HD 7850 XFired together will have about 93% the performance of the OC'ed Asus GTX 780. That makes it about equal to a stock speed GTX 780.

"Do note, all of these specifications and pricing information have been pulled straight from the forum post, and thus remain a rumor and possibly false until verified. Be sure to take it all with a grain of salt."

Don't hold your breath. Even the Nvidia 7xx series was known several months before it was released and it was a pretty well kept secret. If AMD was releasing new cards soon they would have announced them at E3 just so people would not rush out to buy the new Nvidia cards. E3 was June 11-13.

Factor in micro stuttering and the frame latency issue and the 780 looks a lot better than that.

True, but for those people who already have two Radeon HD 7850 XFired together, there is no real point to upgrade to a GTX 780 for $650 - $725 unless they find that latency and micro stuttering is so bad that it is worth spending that much money to get rid of those issues.

kinda got off topic im not thinkin bout the 7970 but was tryin to say the 8950 that will eventualy come out is 399 around about and it is 10%faster then the 7970 all rumors so far but if true then the 770nvidia is faster then the 7970 so probably faster then the 8970 thus making more bang for the buck to go nvidia. does that sound about right from these sources?
