Is it still wise to build an Ivy bridge Rig

Yes, it will definitely last for at least 2 years. The original "i" series (i.e. i7-920) still does well in today's games. Also, if you want to experiment with overclocking, ivy bridge is better and pretty much all the bugs with the cpus/mobos have been sorted out.
