I would have told you to change your motherboard to this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=13-157-... But it's the same price as the motherboard you've chosen... so, I don't know what to change. But, your graphics card albeit it good value for money, probably won't last you very long, in terms of being able to play high settings on most games. Maybe you should save up for a 7950 or something. Or, wait a month until the 3rd gen Intel Core processors get a price drop.

it breaks my heart to see someone spend $400 on their cpu/mb and just 150 on their gpu. Dude, i'm telling you right now. someone spending the same $900 cash on a FX6300 system, but who gets a 7950 into their box will destroy your build gaming wise. You want to game, make sure you spend cash on your gpu. don't skimp... please.

all i changed was the cpu/mb and gpu. this build will destroy yours in gaming.

As to being an "old" cpu, we're talking about a 1 year old cpu here. how old do you think a fx6300 is?

Don't get me wrong. the intel cpu you're looking at is a superior cpu in pretty much every respect. But that superiority means nothing if you bottleneck it with a 7850... which is what you're doing. Generally speaking if you are limited with how much you can spend, make sure your most expensive part is your gpu. Don't take my post as advocating the AMD cpu over the intel. Take it as advocating the most gaming power for the money you're spending. Your system as it is currently built will be GPU bottlenecked... you'll never take advantage of your cpu's power when gaming. If you're going with a i5-4670k please spend some cash on ATLEAST a 7950...

the FX6300 is faster than or as fast as any intel i5 in multithreaded tasks. Of course most gaming is single or dual threaded, so intel generally speaking is far better. You chose one of the best gaming cpus out there... i'm not critisizing the intel on those grounds.

All i'm saying is if all you have to spend is $900 you have to spend it smarter if you want a "superior" gaming machine.

here is a big question... What monitor are you gonna use?
