Hi there,

First of all, I am a newb with audio.

So I installed a new motherboard (Asus Z87M-Plus) and I installed the official drivers from support.asus.com. Now, my 5.1 system doesn't work, yet if I plug in the green, orange and black cable into my other computer the 5.1 system works. I have no idea why it ain't working.

My system:

Asus Z87M-Plus
Nvidia 780GTX
i7 4770-K
16GB DDR3

Cheers,

It looks like you need to tweak the settings on your PC. Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound. Find the entry that corresponds to your soundcard and then click 'Configure'. Set it up for a 5.1 speaker arrangement and then click the individual speakers...it'll play a test note. Find the correct jack arrangement using this, then save the settings.
