I have damaged the screen on my Gateway laptop model Ltr4010u. Before ordering a new one, I wanted to see about finding any LT model Gateway laptop for a cheap price for the screen. Wasn't sure how exact the brand and model have to be in order to be compatable. For example, a screen for a LT4008u laptop.

Tbh the screens are generally compatible with each other. As long as u get the appropriate INCH size. I would personally find a separate screen with the exact model of the one i have just to be 100% sure.

I think that's what I'll probably do. Right after posting the question, I went to a computer parts place and found mine for just $49. Plus it's new. I think that would be the smart thing to do. Thank you so much for your answer and suggestion.

Indeed best choice overall. Be careful when you are taking that thing apart laptop's are notorious. Make sure you document where every screw comes from and goes into because it is hell putting it back together. And the connection to the screen is very delicate so never apply alot of pressure. Same goes for the keyboard if u have to open it. The line is soooo easily broken your head will spin. And if it breaks good luck spending multiple hours soldering it back into place :D
