what monitor do i need to buy?

i have asus silent geforce EN210 installed in my pc. i am planning to buy a new monitor that preferably has an audio output. i am confused over DVI and HDMI connections. does a DVI connected LCD monitor supports audio? or is it only HDMI supported monitors that support audio output?

nope. DVI doesnt support audio. You need hdmi from output from your gpu plus the monitor with hdmi input which has integrated speakers (just like a TV with hdmi input)

In Nvidia settings, there is an option called setup digital audio. it has DVI option along with HDMI in it. Why does Nvidia give such an option if DVI doesn't support digital audio?

dvi connector itself doesnt carry voice signals. you can select dvi output along with analog audio jacks to use that feature
