Hello,
At the moment I have and AMD A4-3300M in my HP Probook 4535s.
I want to upgrade my APU from the A4 to the A8 which I am not sure if it will work with my motherboard even though it is the same FS1 Socket.

Here are the specs of my computer so you can get an idea of what I am running.
APU:
AMD A4-3300M
Llano 32nm Technology

MotherBoard:
Hewlett-Packard 168B (Socket FS1)

Graphics cards:
AMD Radeon HD 6480G (HP)
AMD Radeon HD 6470M (HP)

Ram:
8.00GB DDR3 @ 664MHz (9-9-9-24)

OS:
Microsoft Windows 7

Hope you can help!

If its going to cost more than a couple hundred dollars just forget about it. Trinity a10 notebooks are available starting at $450 and will be a very sizable boost over even the a8 llano.

But yeah if the socket is the same (isn't soldered onto the mobo) it should be upgradable.

Technically it should be possible if HP has not locked in the TDP. Its not BGA so should be as simple as swapping them out. That does not mean it will work though.
Since there are multiple versions of that laptop ranging up to the A8, I would give it a try...

My concern is heat output. the notbook has a cooler and fan to cool the A4, while it may not be a big deal it very quickly could turn into a big deal. According to AMD the TDP is the same:

http://www.amd.com/us/products/notebook/Pages/consumer-notebooks.aspx#/7

So it SHOULD work, and Im FAIRLY sure that it is a socket because these are not embedded CPUs so there is no reason for it to be. But my last issue with this is the same as anothers, the CPU is probably going to cost you $100 or so maybe even more. I feel like that money could be better used to get you a bran new A10 based notebook, like this one:

(on a side note, I find this one very sexy looking)

It all depends on if HP has a BIOS update for your motherboard so it supports the trinity CPU process. Which is totlly different than Llano. I still stand by my recommendation just use that money to get a new notebook built around the trinity CPUs.
