Displayport to mini display port

i have a gtx 660 ti 3GB. the ports are a display port, hdmi, and a dvi. my kind of display is an iMac with a mini display port. i bought a cable that has a mini display to display port.i am waiting for its arrival. Can i use the cable as a display to mini display. Asking because i want to connect the gtx 660 ti which has a display to my iMac with a minidisplay port

i coudnt use my iMac because its only minidisplay to minidisplay so i used my 40" led TV to run my games.
