Current setup:

GTX 580 twin frozr slightly oc'd
i5 3750k
8gb ram
gs 700 psu
(x predator case so size is no issue)

i'm looking to upgrade my gpu as its been a while, and i plan on buying battlefield 3 and 4 when it is released. BF3 according to several sites will only run at between 40 - 60 fps on a GTX 580 and id like to be confident i can max it out on ultra at 60fps constant before buying.

price rage is dependent on the performance gain but no more than £300 - £350 max (less if possible)

what are my options ? (and will they require upgrading my psu?)

Thanks guys

Microstutter is not a problem with two 580s. I had two in SLI for over a year and they ran great. They did run hot though. Stock cards with stock fans. They both hit the low 90s on my old X58 board. When I separated the cards, they ran in the low to mid 80Cs.

The 680s stayed in the 60Cs and the 780s now stay in the high 50s with the same fan profile in Precision X.

i use a tv but 1080p which is the resoloution i play all my games at. and really ? how'd you find the temperatures and qould you reccoment the two 580's then ? also power wise would 700 be ok ?

Just keep in mind that once you upgrade your system it should run the single player portion of the game flawless but multiplayer you will see dips below 60 fps because of the nature of multiplayer. It has moments of high CPU usage, just be prepared and not disappointed when you experience it. I have a 7970 with i5 3750k and really don't notice the dips anymore but I know when ever I get something new I monitor fps like crazy.

yes i understand what you mean and i feel the same way, i play farcry on 60 fps and i changed the msaa from 4 to 2 just for 4 extra fps . yeah i understand that being next to several explosions will cause a momentary drom i just dont want to see my average fps on any game mp or sp being a constant 45/50 fps
