Third or first party sata drivers?

You will need BOTH Marvel and Intel to use all the SATA ports on the board.

The drivers from gigabyte should be fine(as the board gets older OR you think a newer driver will be useful[3TB+ drives needed a new driver for older boards that was NOT on the gigabyte site], then getting drivers from Intel will be more desirable).

Please note that you should use the INTEL SATA ports only if you can get away with it and the Marvel ports are linked(strange design idea) to the e-sata ports so you can NOT use internal Marvel and e-sata at the same time.

First Party Drivers? :D

Anyways ... Get Gigabyte Drivers from the DVD you will get from the motherboard package. Those are the appropriate ones.
Otherwise get from Gigabyte Website.

Also, your system is too expensive for that hardware. Just saying. Check this out if you haven't bought already / don't mind -

plus 16 gigs of ram is overkill

Nopes.

When it comes to RAM, nothing is overkill. More RAM = you can access more stuff / faster overall system performance.
I am also going to upgrade RAM to 16 GB soon. RAM is never overkill, you can even throw in 64 gigs of RAM and it won't be overkill.

Well yeah.
As of now since I suggested 16 Gigs in the build HP should be enough. No need to buy pro as it adds up to the budget quite more.
