Which one of these two CPUs would you recommend that I get for a cheap gaming rig. I will be pairing the cpu with an AMD Radeon HD 7770 and 8gb of ram. Thanks

The 965 BE. Keep in mind you'll need to buy a different motherboard for each proccy. The 965 BE utilizes AM3 (So it'll work in AM3 and AM3+ motherboards) whereas the A8 5600K utilizes FM2 (So it'll work in FM2 and the upcoming AM2+ socket).

The main selling point of the APUs, is that if you don't mind gaming at low-med settings, you don't have to go buy a GPU ontop of the CPU.

So yah. Get the 965.

Thanks, as I'm getting a GPU anyway, I'll probably opt for the Phenom then :-D

By the way, when I said "AM2+ socket", I meant to type "FM2+ socket". Hope I didn't cause you to get the wrong motherboard.

The 965 BE is a good proccy. Holds up just fine.
