I am going to upgrade my system later this year, but I was unsure about which PSU I would need to run it.

My current system...
CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K (Overclocked to 4.3Ghz)
CPU Cooler: Xigmatek Loki SDS963
Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V LX2
RAM: 8GB Corsair 1600mhz Vengeance (2x4GB)
Hard Drive: 500GB S-ATAIII 6.0Gb/s
Optical Drive: 22x DVD±RW DL S-ATA
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2GB
Sound card: Onboard 7.1 Audio
Case: Zalman Z9 Plus
PSU: 450W Corsair VS

I am going to upgrade to an extra 4GB of Corsair 1600mhz Vengeance RAM (so that I will have 12GB) and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 2GB graphics card.

I was wondering which PSU I would need to run this upgraded system.

Any answers would be much appreciated!

In my opinion that Corsair 450 will most likely be enough in your setup. However, since you are overclocking, and for the sake of being safe, I would suggest a 550W maybe?

Although I really do not think your system will draw more than 400W even in peak, so you should be fine, plus its a corsair so you can be sure of the quality.

EDIT: Missed the part about you upgrading to a 770. Yeah in that case you will need atleast a 550W - 650W PSU. A good Corsair/Seasonic 550W psu should be able to handle it well enough.

Dont get the extra stick of ram unless you get 2 more using 3 sticks will limit you to single channel when you want dual channel

Hi - Don't think the 450w PSU will cut it. realhardtechx(their expertise)
recommends 575w PSU for a sys with a gtx770. I do believe a good quality
550w unit will run it OK. I personally would go the quality 650w route as
there are usually more promo's & rebates with those.

When you get closer to purch the gtx770, repost here or if
you want to get the PSU now (I got my PSU before the video card)
that's OK too. Some to consider:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... nets to $70 after mir

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... nets to $90 - modular
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... nets to $80 - non modular

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... nets to $77 - modular

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... nets to $83 - gold efficiency

Any of these would be fine for your system. You can go cheaper as I didn't recommend
any budget level PSU's. With a gtx770 you should go enthusiast level or prof level,
i.e. better quality internal parts, & usually better warranty.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I will get a 650W just to be safe and thanks toyftw for all those links, I'm sure they will come in handy. I will also be sure to get that other stick of RAM.

Thanks again!
