Best PSU for my setup?

Hi all!

I have got through 3x1000w PSU's since I got my latest setup. All of them were cheap £100 ones. Now I want to do the job properly and have read that too much power isn't good when your pc's idle. My question is would I be better off with something like a Corsair HX850?

My setup:
Crosshair IV Formula
Phenom 2 965 BE 3.4ghz (not oc'd)
Radeon HD5970
4x1gb RAM
BR Drive
2x Raptor 10,000rpm HDD
1tb Sata
Up to 7 usb devices
3x120mm fans

I always recommend Seasonic. A 750w should be sufficient for your rig. Parts are getting less power hungry too (965be/5970 eat a lot of juice) so it will last well into the future.

So an 850w would be well enough then. My budget is quite limited, what about the Seasonic SS-850KM?

Sure, good psu. They make the best and are worth the extra money as they will outlast your current build and you can use it in your next however many builds.

XFX Core Edition PRO850W (P1-850S-NLB9) 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Great deal on a top notch Seasonic made XFX 850W :D  ^ $109.00

That is a great deal but I was thinking gold certified and can get the HX850 for £120. I thought I found a Seasonic SS-850KM for £105 until I noticed the p+p charges were £45!! The HX is seasonic manufactured as well if i'm not mistaken so I may just get that.

The Corsair HX850 is good PSU made by Channel Well.If you like it , buy it.I just prefer Seasonic.

Seasonic makes all the XFX PSU's and some of the Corsairs.

Oh I thought the hx was seasonic. Well just had a look for xfx and found an 850w black edition for £103 on ebuyer :)  I'm glad you said the hx wasn't seasonic.

They reckon it's gold certified but i'm sure it looks like the silver certified one to me. Not too bothered, be nice if it was gold, take a look:

Yes by the reviews its a great unit but I decided to go with the BEFX. The hybrid feature will be a great extra for me.
Have I made the right choice do you think?

As I said I wanted to do it properly this time so I thought to ask on here and glad I did. Everyone helped me come to my decision so how do I choose a best solution???

Probably a corsair builder series 500w, or a 600w, try a psu calculator

Your ebuyer.com link shows the Manufacturer ID: P1-850B-NLG9 so that is what I was going by.

The P1-850B-BEFX is the upgraded model and it is 80 PLUS Gold certified according to XFX them self.
