hay, upgraded my graphics card from a 7750 hd to a gtx 660 ti. I get it up and running, start bf3 thinking it will be amazing to see that I get dreadful fps (anywhere from 9 yes 9 fps to 35) not the 60 ish I've heard about. I downloaded evga's precision X software to look at the stats i'm getting. from what I'm seeing the card sits at about 324mhz and occasionally peaks to 900mhz power is at 986mv. as I'm a bit of a noob with alot of this ill give you my specs and any additional info I can and hopefully you can see the problem because I've been looking forward to getting this card only to be totally gutted : /

CPU: AMD A6-5400k apu with radeon hd graphics 3.6ghz
GPU: ASUS GTX 660 ti direct CU II 2048mb
Motherboard: Gigabyte F2A85X-UP4 AMD chipset
Ram: 8gb
windows 8 64bit

graphics card drivers: geforce 310.70 driver and also tried 320.18 (310.70 seems to give a slight performance boost but its still very bad)

Motherboard : updated

I've got CPU-Z if there is any info of it that is useful I can update on request. please help!

many thanks.

that's a screeny of my cpu at work during a game, the fps looks ok in that shot but if i get into heated combat or swing my mouse about too much it slows way down.

any other info you need just ask :)

As Sakkura, I would suspect the CPU. Both BF3 and Skyrim are considered CPU intensive, which means you can't just use a APU or low end CPU for it to work optimally. You said that if you get into heated combat, your FPS drops. Since a lot of the AI is transferred to the APU, it may just be too slow for BF3.

Yeah I have to agree, that's a dual core CPU and BF3 Multiplayer is one of the most CPU intensive games to date. If your CPU hits 100% then that's what causes the slow down. It's happened to me with a Sandy Bridge dual core, thanks goodness that was temporary.

Ok cool everyone seems to be in agreement that its the cpu. the next logical question is what do you chaps recommend i get to replace my current one? an i3/i5 maybe? think i would be willing to splurge 150£ ish if its worth getting to complement my card providing the rest of my pc wont drag the performance down.

your help as always is greatly appreciated guys.

You would have to get a new motherboard to use such processors. You current motherboard is socket FM2, so only socket FM2 processors are compatible - that means A-series APUs (A4, A6, A8, A10) or certain Athlon II models. The most high-end product available is the A10-6800K, but the A10-5800K is quite a bit cheaper (less than £100) and only slightly slower. Some of the cheaper quad-cores would probably be able to perform similarly to that when overclocked, but I don't know how comfortable you are with overclocking.
