Your question

Is this memory, cpu, or ssd!?

I recently researched and purchased all the parts for a fast 8-core AMD pc.

Here is my build:
AMD FX-8150 FX 8-Core Black Edition Processor AM3+
ASUS Sabertooth 990FX - AM3+
Corsair Vengeance 8 GB ( 2 x 4 GB ) DDR3 1866 MHz CMZ8GX3M2A1866
ASUS HD7870-DC2-2GD5 Radeon 2GB DDR5
Kingston SSDNow V Series 128 GB SATA 3 GB/s 2.5
Corsair CMPSU-1000HX 1000-Watt HX Professional Series
Antec Kuhler H2O 620 Liquid CPU Cooler System

Now to get to the problem.

This is a very complex issue, there are numerous crashes and bsod's with numerous error codes. For example

Google Chrome will have the "Aww Snap" error (sometimes when this occurs, I will click "reload" numerous times, as it will just result in another "Aww Snap" quite often). As well as the Shockwave Flash has crashed error.

On very random occasions my computer will BSOD. Some times the error code will resemble that for the memory, sometimes it will resemble that for the hard drive.

So recently, I figured this was a memory issue, so I removed one of the two sticks, and put one only in the A1 slot. I booted up the computer with the single stick and wow, it worked! So maybe it was bad memory?! I took both sticks of memory (since they were purchased as a pair) and rma'd them. Purchased two more sticks of Corsair Vengeance, although it is a slightly different model

Corsair Vengeance Red 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1866 MHz (PC3 15000) Desktop Memory (CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9R)

Installed these sticks, and boom computer was screwed up again. Random BSOD, random shockwave/aww snap crashes via google chrome, even my ATI Catalyst wouldn't load properly or would randomly shut down.

I really hope this isn't my motherboard, and I don't really think it is.

Here's a few other things I have done in order to attempt to fix this.

-Yesterday, I reformatted.
-I've changed the memory speed to the OC'd 1866MHz (and I've changed it back).
-I've ran memory diagnostics (and found no errors)
-I've ran check disk (and found no errors on one run, and found errors on a separate run.)

I really have no idea what to do, I'm contemplating just selling the computer for parts.

Help me please!!!

Thanks
-Andrew

Andrew,
The first thing that comes to mind is that your memory may not be configured properly in your motherboards firmware. Things are not always auto detected properly. you may have to manually select a "profile" or adjust the voltage.. If your inexperienced with those things I'd call Corsair and they can help get the parameters squared away.

There is an option in the bios to select what seems like the settings that the memory requires. Since I have selected that setting, it is still no better.

Is that setting an XMP profile? if that's available it's probably what you want. You could also try running the memory at 1600 @ 1.55-1.6v and see if it's stable. Also some motherboards have a "performance enhance" parameter and you can set to "default", "turbo", or "extreme" (or something comparable) try setting that to a less aggressive setting, just to see if things stabilize.

maybe try memtest-86 (boot disc) to confirm if the memory is creating errors.

Now I'm not sure if this is a fix or what...but I've removed the CMOS battery, left it sitting out for 25 minutes and then replaced it. I never knew about this little trick! And currently, everything is working fine. But....it might creep up again. I do have both sticks of memory installed too!! So fingers crossed!!!
