sound issues after gpu installation

I have recently installed a new graphics card, sapphire 7970 ghz edt., but i am having some weird sound issues. When i am browsing the internet or watching a movie, the sound will randomly cut out for a second then start up again. However when playing any game, the sound never cuts out at all. I am using windows 7 64bit ultimate with an hdmi cable hooked up to my tv from the gpu slot. Any ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

There may be multiple issues.
-Check your cable connection (if it is properly inserted).
-Check your cable itself (if its not damaged in any way)
-Disable any other sound device you're not using (in control panel -> sound -> playback tab)
-Download the AMD HDMI driver (don't use the windows generic one)

Also, im curious, your "sound cutting", is it when you watch online videos like on Youtube which uses Adobe Flash or HTML5? Does it happen when you watch downloaded movies (in windows media player or vlc)?
