since gtx 460 is dvi -d, where can I buy an adapter for it? I left its original adapter in melton because we moved somewhere here in the philippines. Where can I buy a dvi -d to vga adapter?

If he had a small adapter, isn't DVI-A more suitable?

DVI-A adapters are cheaper than DVI-I, even if they are actually the same thing. I know it doesn't make sense, but most people can get fooled that the DVI-I adapter is better than the DVI-A one, and pays more.

DVI-D to digital and VGA is analog . If you are looking to do true digital to analog video signal conversion you will need an active DVI-D to VGA Converter. I would recommend checking KVMSwitchTech as they offer a wide range of DVI-D to VGA products.
