Hey, I was looking to install a fresh version of Windows 8 sometime soon and only had one concern. I plan to install windows on my SSD, but also have two 250 gigabyte hard drives in RAID0 for storage.

When it comes time to do the fresh install, will windows 8 recognize the RAID set up once reconnected?

Optional question as well: I have a few programs installed on these as well, while they aren't super important. Is there a precaution i should be taking? I assume some of the installation is still on my C:\ drive and they may not run properly, or at all.

Thanks!

Which drives have programs on them? You'll have to re-install those programs.

Windows should recognize the RAID. If not, you need to install RAID drivers for that board. Youcan also set them up as a "Storage Space" win Win 8, which will stripe data and has similar performance characteristics to RAID.

The RAID drives have several programs on them, but not important ones. Maybe a few games and the likes. I'll just re-install them.

The storage space sounds interesting, but I imagine I would need clean drives to do that no? I don't have any space to transfer them as it's 1+TB.

What's 1+ TB? Yes, the process of setting up the storage spaces deletes all existing data on the drives.

Sorry, 1+terabyte is how much data I have saved on the RAID 0 drives. In other words, I have no way to back up my data before switching to a storage space.

Thanks for the help though, I'm pretty confident what you told me will result in a fresh OS install and no loss of data on my other RAID drives.

Didn't you say you had 2x 250GB in RAID? That doesn't add up to a terabyte.

Oh jeez I did, that was a typo. I meant 2 x500 gig. Not sure how I confused that. (on my laptop at work currently, so slightly rushed).

Just to be clear, my SSD is 120 gig, my RAID drives are x2 500gig drives and I also have another hard drive that's 1TB (which isn't a concern since it's not in RAID).
