Acer Laptop won't load past Windows XP splash screen - Safe Mode shows driver names and freezes (includes pictures)

Hey, hopefully this is the right place to lodge my question, as the computer I'm inquiring about isn't my usual one:

As I'm not certain about what to show, I'll cover the basics -

Here's a picture of the computer details:

Long story short, my kitten thought it would be hilarious to sit all over the keyboard of an Acer laptop; just when I was about to get her off, I noticed the screen behind her had a lot of windows open from her tampering - and then the laptop turned off.

The next time I turned it on, the computer showed this screen.

If I select any of the Safe Mode options, it just lists a number of drivers, and then freezes on that screen.

If I select either Start Windows Normally or Last Known Good Configuration, it continues on the Windows XP splash screen and eternally loads.

Thanks for any advice you can give, or even direct me to a forum where somebody can help me out.

I have a Recover Disc and a System Disc; I followed the steps so the computer sees the CD drive as first priority upon start up but nothing changed. I'm not overly tech savvy, especially regarding this type of computer, so forgive my ignorance.

It may just require a trip to a man with a computer shop. Or maybe I missed a key step..
