Im on a 900 dollar budget so im going to be getting a 7870 ghz or xt edition gpu in either build but im stuck on cpus and which would be best for my money/ compare to next gen consoles best.

1. I know that the 3470 is the faster of the 2 cpus and i dont really plan to do any OCing seeing as im currently unaware HOW to oc this will be my first pc and it makes me nervouse id ruint he cpu.

2. The XF-6300 is a unlocked chipset so if i ever WANTED to oc in the future id be able to and being a AM+3 chipset gives me room to upgrade easier in the future unlike the 3470's dead socket and cost about 30 dollars cheaper then the 3470 after a heatsink is purchased.

Ill be using this primarily for gameing and basic internet functions with multiple tabs open at ones like facebook, youtube, google, netflix, and other social networking type things.

I guess basically im just curious witch would be the best one to game ona 1080p monitor which would give better fps and would there even be a VISIBLE difference between the too while gaming?

More about : stuck 6300 3470

The fx-6300 is faster & has 8mb L3 cache. 4.1GHz turbo. The Ivy bridge issues are endless, enjoy

More cores and higher overal all ghz yes but in per core performance the 3470 is faster every gameing benchmark iv seen the 3470 is usually tied or a lil faster then even the 8350 at stock speeds and the 8350 has a 4.0 stock. I just dont know if the speed realy matters tho playing at 1080p if both cpus would give me playable fps then it dosent idk if the 6300 would or not tho

By far, the 3470 will give you the power you need for gaming since it's much more powerful per core.

Although the 3470 can't OC, it will be able to turbo up to around 3.9ghz on a good h77 mobo if you ever want a little more power later on. That should be more than enough to defeat any 6xxx and 8xxx core in per-core power.

Any recomendations of a good h77 mobo?

Also i saw on a few youtube videos that non "K" CPU's can be overclocked 400 mghz over there max speed so a 3470 can be oced to 4.0 ghz is this harmful or dangerous to non k cpus?

u can get 3800mhz with out touch in voltage or fsb. its not dangerous... fx63xx its noting better than an pentium for games... i5 its alot better than any amd processor... fx 63xx loose for a phenom 965 in games...
