For $15 more on Newegg I'll go with the WD 1TB blue hd. Two time the storage and better reviews.

The AMD build allows for more upgrading because AMD will support AM3+ foe a few more years. The 6300 can also be OC.

I would get the 7870 XT for 40 dollars more and a different motherboad. MSI is not very good when it comes to VRM's.

I tried to keep the budget near the one in his original build. You'll have to cut down on a good amount of parts to fit a 7870 xt into a $600 budget.
