No POST: brief CPU error light; Solid RAM error light

So, I have recently built a system. When I attempt to boot, this is what happens:

-The red CPU warning light comes on for about a second and then goes out.
-While this is happening, the CPU fan spins, stops, and then keeps spinning. (Not sure if this really matters).
-The red DRAM light comes on and stays lit, and the beep code (1 long, 2 short) sounds. Apparently this corresponds to bad RAM.

Now, I have two sticks of (QVL) RAM, and this happens irregardless of whether either or both are inserted. I've tried all the slots. And yes, I've gone through the checklist sticky without success.

My real concern here is the CPU. That light scares me. Does anyone know if it's a problem if it comes on only briefly? It occurred to me that the CPU might momentarily "fail" during POST only because there is no memory? Does anyone know?

CPU: Intel i5-4670K
Mobo: Asus Z87-A
RAM: G.Skill F3-12800CL9Q
PSU: Raidmax somethin' or another (probably not the problem)

Other components aren't plugged in

OH MAN, turns out the RAM wasn't pushed in all the way.

Guess that's why they call it... RAM...
