I recently purchased a pc from cyberpower, so far everything seems to work fine. However I've read some pretty bad reviews about the Xtremegear 800 Watt PSU. I purchased it due to it being the recommended option, as well as my haste to get a new pc after my old one broke. I'm not sure how well it will support the power demands of my pc, and I have a fairly limited knowledge when it comes to computers.

I'm looking upgrade to a more reliable PSU, and I have a couple of questions.

1. Any recommendations on a good/reliable PSU?

2.Will it be safe to use my current PSU for a few weeks until I can upgrade?

My CPU: Intel i7-3820 3.6 Ghz Quad-Core

My GPU: GTX 680 2 GB

Solution
For a system using a single GeForce GTX 680 graphics card NVIDIA specifies a minimum of a 550 Watt or greater system power supply that has a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 38 Amps or greater and that has at least two 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors or one 6-pin and one 8-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors depending on brand and model of the graphics card.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) rated @ 45°C - 50°C ambient temperature, is the most important factor.

The XtremeGear 800W PSU claims to have a maximum combined +12 Volt current rating of 50 Amps but they don't specify whether that is a continuous or peak current rating specification. My suspicion is that it is a peak rating specification. I wouldn't put much trust in this model.
