Can not open .jpegs in windows

Every time I try to open pictures or any .jpeg file with just clicking on it window tries to open the file with Word which just shows jibberish. I can right click and choose a different tool however if trying to open an attached .jpeg file from a email I have to save it first to desk top then right click to open with another program. When I first bought this computer I could open without issues. I have read the forum on this subject and nothing mentioned here has worked. Any suggestions. Cindy

Go to the Start Menu and type in 'Set Default Programs', open this and then select 'Windows Photo Viewer'. Then hit 'Choose defaults for this program' and insure .jpeg is selected.

you need to change the default program back to either Windows Photo Viewer, Paint or another viewer/editor program. I use Windows Photo Viewer because it is fast.

Right click on the image file, select Open With and change the "always open with" to the other program.
