I've decided to build my own computer, only thing is, is that I don't plan on building it. I will have it assembled at a MicroCenter. I'm a pretty broke guy and I can't afford to fix it if something should go wrong.

My needs for this computer are simple. I don't plan on gaming with it. I'm not a PC gamer. If I ever do game on it, it will only be games like Slender, and that's it. I plan on using this as my personal home computer and moderate video-editing with programs like Sony Vegas.

Someone on this thread told me to go with this sort of build, except I changed it up a little, tell me what you think:

CPU ($119.99)
AMD FX-6300 Vishera 3.5GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 95W Six-Core Desktop Processor FD6300WMHKBOX

MSI 970A-G46 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Storage ($56.99)
New 1TB (1000GB) 32MB Cache 7200RPM SATA 3.5" Desktop Hard Drive

Video Card ($99.99)
SAPPHIRE HD 7770 GHz Edition 1GB GDDR5

Case ($59.99)
COOLER MASTER HAF 912 RC-912-KKN1 Black SECC/ ABS Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Power Supply ($39.99)
CORSAIR Builder Series CX430 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

DVD Burner ($24.99)
ASUS 24X DVD Burner - Bulk 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM Black SATA Model DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS - OEM

CPU Cooler ($12.99)
Rosewill RCX-Z1 Long life ball bearing for over 45,000/hrs CPU Cooler

Refurbished HD LED Monitor ($129.00)

$688.91 + Additional $85.00 to have it assembled at MicroCenter.

Final Total: $773.91

What do you guys think of this build? Is it good? Also, are all of these components compatible with each other?

I would really appreciate some input on this.

Seems alright to me.
Build it yourself, and save the 85 bucks...It's really easy, like lego for adults. There are a ton of very good tutorials on youtube. There is no way you can mess up, unless you physically destroy something.
Remember, unless you build it, it ain't yours ;)

Those 85 bucks would be much better applied on a better CPU cooler, or on more storage.

I would agree with Northwolfe in a way; Take the 80 bucks and get a small SSD as a boot device. You will notice a huge boost when it comes to start up and shutdown, and if you have space for a few more programs then thats great. You can get an older SSD with ~80GB for that price. It won't be top of the line, but the boost compared to the 1TB HDD will be worth it.

Totally agree, I had completely missed the lack of an SSD...guess I assumed it as a given. Thanks for the reminder.
It's not mandatory, but would be a useful boost. However, I have a few older PCs, including this one, that do not have SSDs...Yet I still play Metro on it.
I started thinking, due to the lack of funds available, if we shouldn't stick to solid basics on this case. The CPU cooler was the only "weak link" I detected...And an SSD is not a must have, just a luxury that one can live without.
Cheers.
