Hello,
in a Raid 1 NAS is it possible to insert 2 HDDs of the same size, but with different technologies (like a WD Green and a WD Red) without any risk of data loss or hardware failure?
Just asking it because HDs like WD Green go on idle and have a "quite long" time of re-activation compared to others.

Solution
The Green drives aren't meant for raid. WD has a note about WD Green drives that reads:

*Desktop drives are not recommended for use in RAID environments, please consider using WD Red hard drives for home and small office 1-5 bay NAS systems and WD Enterprise hard drives for rackmount and >5 bay NAS systems.

Thanks for the reply,
but that "recommended" it's just an advice (so WD can sell more Red HDs) or it's a hardware limit that could take to "risk of data loss or hardware failure" as I'm asking in the first post?
