Hi, i have a strange problem, the signs are of overheating but the temperature of CPU, GPU and hard drivers is below 40 C measured in CPUID Hardware monitor.

Windows start the shuting down process, sometimes i can cancel it sometimes not, after shutdown i have no problems or error messages and no need of safe mode. It all works great until it shut's down again.

The problem happens more offten when playing games(League of Legends) and at hottest time of the day on hot days.

Windows 7 with all updates, all latest drivers for components installed.

One think that might not be related is SATA disk became unstable few weeks prior to this problem so i had to add an additional disk, i placed windows 7 on the new disk and formated the partition with previous windows installation few weeks ago and had no issues until now.

The computer case is open and the disks are placed in a box for disks outside of the main computer case. All the parts inside the case have low temperatures, i used to have much higher temperatures in case and it was working without problems.

My secondary computer is in same room(not near, im good at managing the airflow) and is not shuting down.

The computer:
-CPU Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q6600
(8M Cache, 2.40 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB) (first 2 cores at around 38 C when idle, other 2 at around 30 C when idle)
- MotherBoard: Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS4 (rev. 2.1) socket 775
- ATI Radeon 7770 Saphire (temperature 35 C with normal use)
- 4Gb RAM DDR2
- Hard Drives: Maxtor IDE 200 Gb, and 500 Gb Sata (from 28 C to 42 C)

I think the problem could be the thermal paste on CPU became old or something, i might apply new one but before that i want to make sure that thermal paste on CPU is the problem, because CPU seem to be working at normal temperatures from 28 C to 40 C at normal use(browsing internet with +10 tabs open).

What do you guys think, i hope someone can point me towards the right direction, im unsure if it is malfunctioning motherboard or CPU thermal paste or maybe hard drives or just windows 7.

I tried disk sentinel trial, the secondary disk isn't in optimal health but it has no relevance to the shut down error i was getting because the system is on another disk, now i will test CPU temperature while playing game.

Added additional fan to hard drives, still getting the problem. So can any one say what might cause the problem? Could be motherboard overheating, why the problem becomes only when hot even while all components are cooled perfectly?
