I saw a few youtube vids about this while trying to look up games id be playing by people using graphic cards and cpus im thinking of buying. Some guy says non "K" i5's can be oced by 400 mghz with a z77 mobo for example in his vid he made his i5 3470 3.2-3.6 with boost go to a 4.0ghz by adjusting the multipler.

Is this safe??? would this hurt the cpu at all since its not ment for overclocking? is this even worth getting a Z77 mobo for instead of say a h77 or b75?

Im not realy planning on overing is why im looking at a 3470 but i was just curious cuz this vid made is look pretty simple and its not a huge amount so if i get it i figure what the hell

Yes, it has been confirmed by many other site and Intel themselves. All that is really necessary is a Z77 and changing the multiplier.

Intel stated non-k Haswell CPU will not be overclockable with a Z87 chipset motherboard. Whether or not it is worth buying a Z77 motherboard, that depends on the price difference between that and a H77 motherboard.

Is it safe? Yes. I don't think it would even be necessary to increase the CPU voltage.
