I bought an HP laptop with windows 8 installed. For some reason I thought of installing windows 7. While installing windows 7 I got an error saying windows 7 cannot be installed to this disk as it's a GPT disk. So I thought of formatting my hard disk and changing it to MBR type. Accidently,I have deleted all partitions and now laptop is just blank. I tried using windows 7 installation USB pen drive to boot my laptop and tried using DISKPART to convert my GPT partiotion. But, It doesn't seems to be working. list disk does shows anything instead it just displays the name of commands and its use. Please help me. What should I do. I don't have windows 8 recovery disk or installation DVD.

You could try booting into a GParted Live CD and perform a reformat of the drive, selecting MBR as the file system type.

Other than that, new PCs with Windows 8 installed on them have historically had weird things happen to them when users try to install operating systems other than Windows 8 on the machines. For instance, there are folks who've tried to install Linux on such machines only to completely brick their systems because of the UEFI Safe Boot feature in the systems.

Hello Jamesss!

I did the same thing when I tried to install win7 on my Lenovo Z500. After a few hours of hitting myself in the n... I managed to install win7 on it and it works perfectly. Check this link and maybe it will help you:
