hey everyone! i have been looking to upgrade my rig and am noticing that the GTX660 is a relatively inexpensive card for the technology and looks to be a sizeable upgrade to my GTX460SE cards. Any input on these two cards and how they stack up?

2 cards will always give you more problems then one, plus you will need more wattage as you said, instead of 2...

hey man, good advice but check out this link to a graphics card compare sight, you may know it already.

http://www.hwcompare.com/13296/geforce-gtx-660-vs-geforce-gtx-660-ti/

looks like the Ti version has some definite upgrades but for the price difference, over $100 bucks, i am not sure I would be getting the most upgrade for my dollar!! i think that the 660 w/ metro last light free is a pretty good deal at $209.99. i run an Asus Maximus III Gene ROG board w/ 14gb Corsair Ram and an Intel i5 processor.

i think that if i grab two of the 660's and a 1050watt ultra power supply, i should be good for quite a while!!!

2 cards will always give you more problems then one, plus you will need more wattage as you said, instead of 2 660, i would go either with one 770, or one 780.
i suggest this model http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130919

and dont let the free metro change your decision, you can just torrent the game for free.

So you feel that i can get as much processing out of 1 super card rather than and SLi set up with two decent cards? i have seen that argument and am intrigued!! I just felt like 2 was always better but am realizing that may not be the case!!!!

Basically when they work, two 660's have a very slight edge over a 770. But it can take a couple of months for new released games to support SLI so while your waiting you have to run a single 660. Most people choose to have the simplicity of a single card that near enough matches it that wont have anywhere near as many issues.

Plus its easier to cool one card than two ;)

http://www.hwcompare.com/14630/geforce-gtx-660-vs-geforce-gtx-770/

in just looking at the comparison site, the 770 outperforms the 660 by almost 50% or more in most of the important areas!! That would put this one at about the same performance as 2 cards in SLI mode!! man i am really opening my eyes here!! Now the key is to find a GTX770 - so far they are sold out on Newegg and Tigerdirect!!

Any ideas on that problem!! haha

one more question, you think that an Ultra X4 850watt supply is fine for what i am running? If i go with the GTX770 and what not?

Also, do i go with the GTX770 Superclocked or just the standard GTX770? Tiger has either one!!

The 770 only needs a 600w power supply

eg.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139028&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Whichever you can afford. The superclocked will doubtless have slight more power. but not a visually noticeable amount.
