Hi

I think I know enough to be compotent in most things IT but baffled by this one

Motherboard is

Gigabyte GA-M68SM-S2L V1.0

Trying to replace graphics card which at moment is HD 3870 X2

Tried installed 256MB 8600 GTS to no avail. wont POST, system keeps restarting randonly, both fans spinning then restrats and same again. Plus it will not POST or let me access BIOS. After few attempts i can get it to POST but only if I plug VGA cable into onboard socket on motherboard, even with PCIE Graphics Card installed.

Bios settings all adjusted to look for PEG first and DVMA memory for onboard set to disabled.

I have 2 x 8600 GTS both work perfect, used in SLi on another machine, just want to replace them. I have tried both 8600 GTS even an HD 6570 and nothing. Plug back in the HD 3870 and works perfect.

Have even tried GTX 650 Ti and this worked, never got through to installing drivers but booted fine into Windows.

So I know all cards are working perfect, no issues with PCIE slot on motherboard.

Bios on motherboard is currently F7, i have previously tried with F8 and F9b BETA and none work.

Anyone help shed some light on this, I am baffled beyond belief.

PSU is Corsair HW450 Pro so not problems with PSU
