Can I insert a additional SSD on Gateway NV59C?

Hello.

I have a problem with my HDD (WD Caviar Blue) on my gateway NV59C. So I have decided to replace the unit. However I have the doubt about if I could insert the SSD as a additional drive removing the DVD/CD ROM drive?

I'm assuming this is a laptop. Why would you want to keep a HDD that is giving you problems?

Personally, I would opt for a large SSD/HDD plus external storage. Sooner or later you will need to use a CD/DVD with your laptop and then you'll have to buy an external unit.
