Good day random people of the internet, I recently overclocked my GPU to about 1200 core/1300 memory with the voltage at 1.3V and power limit at +20% (all via MSI Afterburner) and I noticed that in Furmark that my system shuts down when the card hits about 80 degrees Celsius. I'm assuming that this is a safety feature to prevent damage, so anybody know of some ways I can keep the card cooler or a better overclock? (I've already modified the Fan curve so it hits 100% at ).

System
AMD FX 8350
ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Revision 1
Gigabyte HD7870 GHz edition
Corsair HX750 (Brand new and puts out 62A on the 12V rail, so I'm guessing that this isn't the problem)
12 gigs of G.Skill DDR3-1333 (one of the chips fried on me :( )
some hard drives
some sold state drives
a fancy 7.1 surround sound card
other stuff you would expect to find in a computer

yeah. that will probably void the warranty. That said, keep the original heat sink. you wont damage it taking it off. If something happens to your gpu, put the original heat-sink back on. They probably won't notice if you're careful. Besides, that is a high quality gpu cooler; you probably will want to keep it if you upgrade to another gpu.
Temps are caused by power being wasted and turning into heat energy. When you bump voltages you bump temps.

so... either find an overclock with lower voltages and better temps... or...

replace your gpu cooler with something better. Something like an Artic Accelero Twin Turbo II or an Artic Accelero Xtreme III

Yes, replacing the cooler will void the warranty on the card as it is sold as a whole unit, you do not void the warranty on a cpu replacing the cooler on a cpu as it is made to be replaceable and is not a whole fixed unit, unless you bought the pc pre made etc.
