My desktop was working fine and all of a sudden it can't boot it. I took the harddisk out and access it with another loptop thru disk enclosure. Under F drive it shows o bytes free of 0 bytes. and instead of NTFS it shows raw data. how can i recover the data and start the computer again

I tried this before and didn't work. Is there any other solution?

The question is do you have actual data valuable that cannot be reproduced or is it the only thing you want to start up the computer ? If you wish to recover data, take it to a data recovery center (most small PC stores will do it), otherwise to have a running system, get the installation CD, re-partition drive (delete all partitions & create a new one), format & install clean. Make sure you have downloaded all drivers for that PC onto a CD or USB stick.

I will try but before i do that, do you know while recovery, i will be able to see directory structure also or not? I have lots of office files, pics, and PDF that i want to recover them with the folder. Few software i looked only recover and group them in specific file type. Issue with that would be i have to open them one by one and separate them in different folder.

If only the boot sector was damaged, you can add the drive in SLAVE mode to a working computer & be able to transfer files freely. Before accessing the drive, I would run a full anti-virus-spyware-rootkit on it first, just to be sure.
