So I just got a replacement GTX 680 from Asus as my original one started to give me problems like screen tearing and frame rate drops.

I ended up sending that card back thinking it was defective because my graphics drives would keep failing while the card was active. I soon realized that the problem was the computer and not the card as the next replacement card came in and had the same problem.

So what's the issue here, Im a little lost on what would cause this issue on the new cards but the old one which has some issues works fine to some extent (doesn't cash on me and so on).

Thanks again!

First, reinstall drivers. you can get them here:

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I did a clean install of Windows between the two card swaps. So part of reinstalling Windows is also going to Nvidia's website and downloading their latest drivers.

Man that is weird. Have you tried testing the RAM? RAM can cause all sorts of silly, so that's worth a shot. Otherwise it could be a heat issue. Is your case well ventilated?

Yeah, I have a corsair obsidian case (very nice case) and I tested my temps, which all seem fine. I dont understand how it can be the RAM if my old 680 didnt crash the system but these new ones do...

I am as confused as you. And to add to that, it doesnt seem like the drivers crash when the card is under load. It can work flawlessly in a game for an hour and then just randomly crash when I open a new window or folder on my desktop...

I'm genuinely stumped. I suggest RAM because it's not impossible. And there isn't much left to blame. I would call out the PSU, but corsair is a very reputable brand, and your system isn't doing anything else that would make me think that.

Is it crashing with everything at stock clock speeds?

Is it only crashing when the CPU and/or GPU is overclocked?

Is it a BSOD? If it is then please post any error messages or codes that may help in determining the cause.

It is not BSOD, The screen either freezes and I need to force shut down the computer or it flashes black and then comes back to normal sayins the drivers have crashes and have now recovered or something.
