new NAS build $1000 heavy duty.

I'm a photographer who loves to keep my photos in a save place ( 1 photo sometimes goes to 34mb ) and a very heavy downloder from the internet ( games movies and programs), loves to keep files i don't know why <

Motherboard: Asus Rampage IV Extreme X79

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3930K CPU @ 3.20GHz (12 CPUs), ~ Overclocked To 4.5Ghz

Memory: Corsair Vengence 16gb x4 1600MHz

SSD :
2x Crucial M4
( 512GB for the OS and programs )
( 128GB for Games installation )

HDD :

2x WD Black 3TB ( for my files and movies )
1x Hitachi 1 TB ( my old computer )

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 SLI x2

Power Supply: Corsair ATX 1200w

Network Card: Bigfoot Killer 2100

CPU Cooling : Corsair H100

and always i overclock it from time to time and my HDDs always get full.



My computer i want it be clean for games and some files and the NAS as a backup for my files for a very long term.


First of all

i want to build a NAS ( gigbit router to all my computers in my home )

what do i exactly want from it is :

1-media library from my computer ( movies , photos, videos )

2-big files like winrar or setup files ( games, programs ) ...etc.

3- heavy downloader ( torrent ....etc )

4- running 24/7 .

5- have a very fast speed of sending or receiving files ( home network : like if I'm moving something from my computer to the NAS as back up or getting a movie from the NAS to my computer to watch ) and as a server i can log into from the internet to download a movie before i get back home or getting files when I'm outside the home ( photos or docs ).

6- i want it to be 12 TB ( 4x HDDs ) ( RAID 5 or 10 )




a question :

should or can i install the ( 2nd 128GB SSD from my system )
as primary for the NAS and the new HDDS in RAID 5 or 10 ?

( the 2nd ssd from my system i will mount it on the NAS when arriving )
