Hi,

I record with a roxio game capture hd pro and would the fx-4100, with 8gb ram, be able to record on FULL quality? At the minute i have a really bad amd e-300 apu with 1.6gb ram and i can only record at 1/4 quality (theres a bar where you slide along to what quality you want).

Would it be worth changing to fx-6200 instead?

Thanks

EDIT: im not replacing the cpu im buying a new pc with this cpu on it and asking if it would be good for recording

Umm E-300 is a Notebook CPU, the FX-series are Desktop. You can't interchange them.
You also can't replace the E-300, because it is soldiered into the socket, so you can't remove it.

If I were you, I'd invest in a new system. Like THIS
It's actually a great system for being so cheap

Ohh, well then.

The FX-4100 is not that great, even the $90 Phenom II X4 965BE beats it.
The FX-6300 beats the 6200, 4100, and the 965 hands down. It has 6 cores and it's also cheaper than the FX-6200.
You can find it here

EDIT: If you are not planning on gaming on your PC, then the 965BE will do great for recording

Well if you're going to get a new pc then I suggest you build one since it would be easier on your wallet and you can actually personalize it yourself but the fx-4100 is a decent card from what I know. It's a quad core which should be okay for video editing but I've heard that AMD power per core is pretty weak when compared to Intel. Overall, I think it should be fine for video recording, just get 4~8gb of ram and you'd be fine. If you were to build your own system, I'd recommend upgrading to a better processor for 20~50 dollars more.
