Can an HD 7850 work in a PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot?

So, I've opened up my pc to troubleshoot my RAM and noticed I have both a PCI Express 3.0 and 2.0 slot.
The card (Sapphire Radeon hd 7850 1GB OC) is currently in the 3.0 slot. The problem is that I have a small mobo and it makes getting the ram out a HUGE pain. The 2.0 slot is further down and would save some space.

Would putting my card in the PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot reduce performance noticeably? I currently play at a 1400x900 resolution on one monitor and have an i3-3220 processor.

It's fine. You can run it at PCIe 2.0 x16. There is no advantage to 3.0 at this time. Perhaps in the future.

Hi im in the same dilemma as baker72, i have a radeon hd 7850 (amd radeon hd7850 oc version, 2gb gddr5) and am running dual monitors both on 1920 × 1080. My mobo has PCIEx16 and PCIE 3.0 x4. Also is it wiser to connect both my monitors to my gfx or my main to my gfx and my 2nd monitor to my inbuilt mobo gfx?
Im very new to the computer world and only recently built my computer. Thanks.
