Hi, need to finnally get a new computer mine is 6 years old. I mainly use it for watching movies and email, research on the internet, music and my laptop was just getting slower and slower. Want to try to build one myself, though dont know anything Id say. Just want something that is really fast and can watch movies and do stuff without just staring at buffering sign, good sound would help. My budget well am able to come with about a thousand id say. But already have a NZXT Phan 002 case, and a Corsair HX750

If you have a local micro center they have good sale on the i5-4670k and mb combo. As your not a gamer the 650 ti super clock cards or a 7870 would be your best value for the gpu. Use a 120g Ssd as boot drive and a one to two tb hard drive as the data drive with an eight gig ram kit. Blue ray DVD to play blueray movies is 70. If good audio is what your looking for then pick up an asus sound card.

So based on his needs, why do you feel that he would need a discrete graphics solution?

the case and psu were from a friend who didnt think he could go through with his build.my budget is around 1000 but need to buy everything else and a great monitor. Also need this computer to last atleast 5 years, thats how long my last one lasted and dont think i can spare this kind of money anytime soon again

I can achieve web browsing and movies etc on the g31/33 chipset graphics with an E3200.
Any i3/5 processor will give you what you want. With any motherboard that supports onboard graphics.

A solid state for your OS is a luxury, but you might enjoy it. If your computer is 6 years old, then you probably dont have a huge harddrive, and a cheap 1tb for $65 or so will probably last you a long time.

Something for bare usage would probably cost you about $350 save your money for a later build if you feel like spoiling yourself and diving into gaming.

Without knowing they're specs. I would refute that... My Pc is just on the verge of these applications at a similar age. Id need to upgrade my CPU to watch 1080p films.

(Which I wont do, On the verge of a complete new pc anyway)
