Hi,

I have 2 identical 2gb memory cards on my motherboard. Can I install a third, 4gb memory on it as well? Or do I need to have 2 of the 4gb memories as well? (I already own one, so would need to get one more)

Thanks in advance :)

If trying to run a combo like that (which will work, though in this case with all different sticks maybe not) the best arrangement is the 4GB sticks in slots 1-3 from CPU and the 2 GB in slots 2-4, will then prob need to do some voltage adjustments to the DRAM and the MC (memory controller) which is normally the CPU/NB voltage, will also prob need to raise the tRFC timing in the advanced timings - it can be done yes and all will run in dual channel, but as mentioned with the mix of sticks I wouldn't guarantee it
is it a matched set? if not you may encounter memory problems. and then you realize if you have 4 slots for your not running dual ram. 1,2,3,4 ok 1,2 and 3,4 run each set of mem makes your pc faster you install ram in 1 and 2 fine add 3 then your not running dual ram

So you're saying I should get another 4gb? I'm not sure what matched set means :(. Would it be ok to have one "set" of 2 2gb memories and one set of 2 4gb memories?

ok say you built your pc you have 4 mem slot open ok 13 you add 2 gigs each that dual ok you add a 3rd stick of mem you don't have dual mem ok it makes its slower you need to pair them up like 2 x2 or 4 x 2 its faster sure 3 slots with mem will work but slower/

Ok, I understand you now. So pairing 2x2 + 2x4 is not ok? Will not speed up my computer?

Ok, that sounds like a bit too much of a hassle for me :D. I think I'll just sell the 2gb sticks and get another 4gb stick. Thanks for the answer :)
