Windows kernel mode driver 320.18 not responding...

I keep getting this error and a black screen that makes it to where it looks like I have turned off the computer for a second. It will then come back on with the bubble saying Windows kernel driver XXX.XX has quit responding and has been successfully restored and keeps doing this until I can exit from a game or program or the computer will shut off and restart. It happens using the browser, playing games, or using skype to call someone.

I have tried multiple things to fix the issue to no avail. I have downgraded the display driver to 314.22 and also 306.97(in safe mode cleaning drivers with Driver Fusion and CCcleaner) and keep getting the same issue. I have tried factory resetting and starting everything brand new and it doesn't work as well. I am monitoring my temperatures and they all seem to be fine. They jump a little as I load new pages, etc, as expected. I have reseated my GPU into a different slot, I have used MemTest to test my RAM and the results come out fine. I have literally looked at a bunch of different forums and have tried testing everything everyone suggest, but I still haven't found a solution.

The problem started when I had dual monitors setup, my GPU can support 3. I opened youtube in one monitor and had pandora in the other and thats when the black screens started happening. I am wondering if I fried my GPU or something but didn't smell burnt plastic or anything when I reseated it and it looked fine.

My specs:
-Windows 7 Home Premium
-Asus M5A97 Mobo
-AMD Phenom II 965 Quad Core CPU
-Nvidia Geforce GT 640 GPU running 320.18 display driver currently

If anyone can help or has any ideas, it would be muchhhh appreciated. Thank you.

There are a bunch of people on the internet reporting that 318.20 has killed their Gpu, that might have happend to you =[

Theres a 160 page thread on nvidia forums with people complaining about 320.18 giving them problems

And theres also this modcrash.com/nvidia-display-driver-damaging-gpus/#.UbS1ePnvtQs

And yet the driver hasn't been removed from their site like the 196.xx driver was, so what does that tell you? Not forgetting that many of us are using that self same driver with no problems what so ever and a couple of other mitigating factors and I start to wonder about the validity of most of those posters in that 160 page thread.

They CANNOT remove that driver, simply because its the only driver that supports the gtx 770 and 780, and if they would remove it, they would look really bad making all those brand new cards un useable

Even though thats just a theory. And i personally had problems with this driver and a gtx 780, so naturally i believe them.

But considering that it's been close on a month now since that driver was released if there was a problem with it there has been more than enough time to get a fix out even if it was just a beta update, which they have done before so why not this time?

Well nothing is certain, but since he basically tried everyhing, that sounds like either the driver caused it, or its just dead from something else.

I saw people moaning about artifacts in a few games and a few crashes but no dead or killed GPU's, whereabouts where all those posts?
