Im looking at upgrading from my Nvidia 9600gt to a 660 (Non TI). Trouble is Nvidia recommend at least 450 watts. I have the Corsair 430 PSU

...and an overclocked E8500 CPU. Just wanted to know if i should go for the 650 TI or save up and get a 500 Watt psu as well as the new card....or if the 660 will work on the 430 psu.

Thanks

I think Nvidia usually recommends what it recommends while taking into account that

people don't necessarily buy good PSUs (that thus deliver their noted wattage). So they

ramp up the wattage recommendations to keep people on the safe side. A new PSU wouldn't

hurt if you've got one with a bad brand for example.

It will run it , but look to upgrade in the future , the CX series is for budget builds.

I think it's a solid PSU, but PSUs do tend to degrade a little bit and thus don't provide the entirety of

their mentioned wattage. So to me I think it's more secure getting a 500W PSU too, but then I'm not expert

on PSUs.
