Comparing these 2 CPUs

Alright, So i've been stuck with my current CPU for about a year now, and it was handed down to me from an older computer of god knows how long (They only used it to play WoW)

I got fed up with this thing when I start getting FPS drops left and right in larger games, especially in Planetside 2, where I get 5 fps in major combat. I have a GTX 660ti, so there shouldn't be an issue with that.

My current CPU is a AMD Phenom II x4 925 @2.80GHz
The one I'm looking to buy was an Intel Core i5 3750k at 3.40GHz.
Can anyone give me a simple difference in regards of gaming speed? I'm not really a master of this kind of stuff..

If you want a really simple visual comparison of the difference, here's passmark benchmark scores:
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html

The x4 925 is at the bottom of the chart with a score of 3,541 and the 3570K is near the middle-top with a score of 7,119. Of course, these are synthetic benchmark scores and don't necessarily reflect how either CPU will game, but does shed some light on the potential power of the CPUs in a comparative way.

Online multi-player games tend to be more CPU dependent than single player games. You should see some improvement, though there are many factors going into online play such as network speed and the game server's traffic.

Thanks, that chart helped quite abit actually, but according to the chart, the speed is nearly doubled.

Yes though, I'm looking for online multiplayer, especially with the upcoming Bf3, and the current planetside two. I would like an accurate increase in performance if possible, or if it will simple work is all~
(Network speed isn't the issue, it's the fact that my framerate is unbelievably bad, bf3 fps drops every 20 or so seconds to 1, and planetside 2 has a constant 5 fps in large combat)

Have you used CPUz or even the resource manager in Windows to see how busy your CPU is during game play (particularly when your framerates hit 1fps?)?

I would confirm your CPU is hitting the 100% ceiling. With BF3 hitting 1fps at regular intervals, it would almost seem something else might be going on?

Upon looking at Windows resources during lag spikes, my CPU reads about 50%, with 100% maximum frequency thingy. Another thing hitting 100% is my disk highest active time. Both of these are constent.

It appears during more intensive gameplay, Cores 0 and 3 take up more resources, never dropping under 70% each core. (Couldnt check during mass fps drops, as the game manages to freeze the desktop, preventing alt tabbing or window switching)
