How to find Windows Server 2008 R2 Product Key from Original DVD

The product key is not stored on the original DVD. It is provided separately (usually on a sticker that is affixed to the case of the system being installed to). You should consider contacting Microsoft for help.

How do you "accidentally" reinstall server? Obviously you think we are idiots here and IF you are the one that was qualified to be installing server for your company, then you should already know that it has NEVER been on the media and has ALWAYS required a key that is either on the CD/DVD case or the license sticker received with the purchase.

To add - in case it is a Dell or HP server, if you call their support and give them the serial number of your server they can provide you with a key.

Though, I'm not sure how one accidently reinstalls a server. If it really was an accident, hopefully you've learned from your mistake and won't repeat it

Dear, Actually there were only 8 people working. They still not connected to server. Working in a LAN as a separate PC without connecting to server. So when i came, I just plan to setup the server and add them and start a domain setup. But, After the installation i realize that there is no serial key with them.

I got the Answer from Microsoft that, If the server is already activated, I can check the current key in slmgr.vbs

That's not uncommon knowledge. However the way you worded the question had everyone under the assumption that you had NOT activated the server, AND had installed a new copy of the OS. However, I'm glad you were able to find a solution to your problem.

There are several tools, like produkey, that can help users get their product key after installation. When you indicated that you re-installed the OS, that would typically over-write the previous product key and make produkey ineffective. Just general knowledge for future reference.

I didn't solve my problem. When i got that answer, i just posted there for to help others who face any such problem. I think to recover all the files with any data recovering software and try to get that slmgr.vbs and check whether it has the information in it.

Do you know any such powerful recovering Software to get my previous slmgr.vbs file?
