Building a high-end gaming pc using 2011 socket with about $3000 max, need motherboard, ram and cpu help.

So far I've put together a list of the parts that I'm confident that I'll go with which are:

Asus GeForce GTX 690 4GB GPU
Intel Core i7-3820 CPU
CM Storm Stryker Case
ASUS PCE-N53 Dual Band Wireless N600 PCI-E Adapter
LG GH24NS95 24x SATA DVD-RW Drive OEM

I'm unsure if I should be spending more on RAM and that I should upgrade to something like vengeance pro or go 32GB?

I wanted to know if there are any well-priced 27'' 2560x1440 monitors, or if I should go with a three-monitor setup? I already own a BenQ GL2450 24'' monitor. This also means that I need to know whether it's worth buying the GTX 690 over something from the 700 series.

I need to know whether my motherboard is overkill for a gaming pc and if there's something for less that would suit the purpose just as well and wouldn't be outdated in five years.

I would also like to know if there is a PSU, which is similar to mine but with a red glow, instead of blue (I think) on the one i've currently chosen.

What do you plan on doing with this PC i assume at least gaming but are you going to be doing video editing daily?
i would say get a gtx 770sli and that would be cheaper and still perform great.
I would also recommend a SSD since you have a huge budget and it will help your PC with loading times.
The PSU you are using is a little overkill for what you are running you could prob get away with a 850watt or so.
For ram get 8x2 it wont put as much stress from using 4 Ram and a 8x2 will work better in the long run. You dont need 32GB at all for gaming 8GB is plenty 16GB is just overkill for gaming.
For a 1440p monitor idk what your price would be but they are at least $500 for a lower end one, for the triple monitor setup you would have to upgrade your GPU for more VRAM and i personally dont think its worth it but thats up to you.

My friend was telling me that if it's a quad channel motherboard YOU HAVE TO run 4 ram sticks? If not, should I buy higher end ram? Like vengeance pro? Also with my motherboard, is it going to perform well?

Would a 690 run three screens well? or is running a single, large monitor better? Like are 2560 screens actually worth it..?

Hey there,

this is what I would suggest for a high end LGA2011 system...

few words about what you picked already.
* 3820 is not a good idea at all. its a very weak version if you want 2011 socket
* 690 is glitchy compared to 780 series. 2*780 will provide more power and more efficiency
* SSD is like a must in a high end system, will boost overall performance for daily usage and file access
* Asus rampage formula is overrated. can get same performance on a Gigabyte up4, full voltage control is provided with it
* 2*8GB memories would be more efficient instead 4*4GB it would put less stress on cpu and draw less power from psu and more open to future updates
* case is a preference, i just like NZXT
* 1050W psu is too much, I chose 850W Seasonic Gold instead, premium quality psu to be honest.

For the ram you could go with a 16GB 4x4 1600 Vengeance and will be plenty.
If you are video editing then the CPU is fine,
A Corsair AX850 will be good for you since its a modular PSU and is one of the best for your system currently.
The 690 will be able to run triple monitor but not sure how well it would perform on max settings, for recording a single monitor would work best since you would get highest FPS and best quality without and drops in fps.
For a larger monitor i would recommend a 27" 120Hz Monitor or you could just use your BenQ which would work fine.

Oh wow 8320! I meant to write i7 3820 haha such a fail!! -.- Also, with the two 780's, i thought that sli won't won't run as well as a single card? What colour is the glow or light emitting from the PSU? Also, is corsair vengeance ram overkill? Will the motherboard overclock well?

I also want to know if i should buy any additional fans or if it's unnessecary?

The 770 is still a good card and i would get the 770 over a 780 for the price per performance ratio, but you can choose for yourself.
