Hey all, this seems the place to be to ask for PC building advice so . . . here it goes

I am building a PC that will be able to play the so called "next generation" games
and have come across a problem.

Initially I was settled with the 4670K
- Newest chipset
- Kind of a favourite amongs people i've asked – riding the wave of 3570K i assume
- seemed best 'bang for buck' intel option for my pricerange

But, a conversation with a techie friend of mine started to get me worried that especially that "because next gen games with start to use 8 cores the 4670K will start to age quickly".

He also then started to recomend AMD CPU's like the FX-8350 which was enticing (considering the 50 bucks I would save) and how it seems to shit all over the 4670K in specs . . . at least to a newbies eyes like mine.

However I assume that's not all their is too it – and I was wondering if those among you could fill me in regarding how I should approach this decision especially given the time and effort in saving money/researching that has gone into prep for this build the LAST thing i want to happen is to see it go obsolete sooner than i expected – and i really don't want to front the extra dosh for a i7 (for those about to ask).

Thankyou in advance for your time :)

ALSO, for those intersted or if relevant, the build as it stands . . .

Antec High Current Gamer 850W Modular HCG-850M
Thermaltake NiC C5 CPU Cooler
Intel Core i5 4670K
MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance Pro (2X8GB)
Gigabyte Radeon HD7950 3GB Overclocked

Especially being that one of my biggest concerns with changing the CPU will be what else has to be reconsidered with regards to compatability.

Thanks again :)

Very few if any games utilize even 4 cores now, you would probably need to upgrade for different reasons before your CPU was losing ground to 8 core capable games.

And no, the FX is not going to beat out the 4670k for gaming.
