What Nvidia card for my Q9950

Hello,

im planning to get a new video card, but with my following cpu/mb and powersupply, would be ok if i go for a GTX 770 DirectCU II ?


CPU : INTEL CORE 2 QUAD Q9550
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3LR (rev. 1.0)
Power Supply: Antec TruePower 650W

Yep. Your PSU will still have plenty of headroom for other devices.

Check this resource to calculate PSU wattage (although I'm 100% sure a 650W is adequate)

And your board has a PCIe 2.0 slot. The card is PCIe 3.0, but they are backwards compatible. I don't think you will actually see any performance difference between the two. That is a sweet card (it happens to be the one I want to upgrade to also) and I have a PCIe 2.0 board. I don't plan on changing boards when I upgrade either.

The only thing I would check is
1) Make sure your case fits the 10.7" card
2) Make sure you have 3 expansion slots available. You only need two, but if you have a big card/no room where the third slot is, it may affect airflow, which would be a shame because the CUII has excellent cooling that would help with an OC, expanding the usefulness of the card over its lifetime.

I think it will fit without problems, since my actual card is a gtx 470, which is huge also =)
