Hi Guys,

I'm running this spec:

i5-3570K
Asus P8Z77 V
OCZ ZT 650W
Radeon HD 7850
8gb Corsair Vengenace
Windows 7 Home Premium

I built this rig about 7-8 months ago at the end of 2012 and have only started to experience this problem in the last few days.

Twice I have left my machine, come back after a few minutes, moved my mouse and the computer has rebooted to a screen with the error: "Power Supply Surges detected during the previous power on. Asus Anti-Surge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply." Today when I returned from work my machine failed to restore from hibernation. There was no tell-tale beep as usual to tell me that it had passed POST. Lights came on, fans spun, disk drives worked, but the monitors stayed blank. To get it to turn on I had to pull out the power cable for thirty seconds and then boot.

There are plenty of other messages about this out there but they all seem to be soon after the computer has been set up. I can't find examples of the problem developing over time. Running setup after one of these incidents shows no problems on any of the amp rails, they all seem to be within normal ranges.

Is this likely down to the PSU failing over time?

Thanks for any help,

Xar

OCZ ZT 650W < It's a tier 2 power supply , so unless it's failing it should power your build easy.

It's your power supply unit dying. The good news is that it's probably within warranty.

I would replace it with a similar Seasonic or XFX.

Might as well RMA it and just get an identical replacement. Not a down side to that really is there?
