I am preparing to build a new machine and for storage I am considering using 4 3Tb HDDs for storage and I have found bits and pieces around that say you cannot have a single volume greater than 2Tb. Does this limitation hold true in Windows 7 when the drives in question are set up in a RAID 1+0 array. I will be using a Asus Sabertooth 990FX Motherboard with the onboard RAID controller.

I dont think windows 7 can backup or restore a volume larger than 2tb. Also to boot from a volume larger than 2tb you need a uefi/efi bios based motherbd in addition to the gpt format.

Using a data drive of that size is not really a problem, its just that your own your own for backing it all up.
