I have a hyper 212+ and the temp is reaching 45 at idle this summer, i live in Egypt and it's super hot here atm and i have both fans installed on both sides of the hyper 212 and a fan on top of the case and another at the back. I am a heavy gamer and when playing games i see the temp jumping to 60 and rarely it reaches 61 and 62, just FYI my processor is 4 years old and last year i changed from the stock cooler to the hyper 212.

Are these temps anywhere near dangerous?

Thanks for the quick answers the reason i was freaked out is that i read around that the max temp for Phenom 2 is around 60, but i am not sure if i can keep it under 60 when the temp in my room is around 45 that sounds like a challenge :D.

Dont worry abt it. Most CPUs are designed to even tolerate upto 100C. That does not mean you want to keep them at those temps all the time though. Regardless under load anything below 85C is fine and safe. Obviosuly everyone prefers temps as low as possible, but not everyone can achieve super low temps.

If you go to AMD's website you can find the exact temperature specifications for your CPU. My phenom II processor max temperature is listed at 62C. I believe this is the same for the whole phenom II line. ONLY the INTEL processors can go up to 90C. Intell has always been able to run at hotter temps than AMD. If I were you, I would try to make sure that the case is getting plenty of airflow and is not clogged up with dust. Due to your high ambient temperature you may have to under clock and lower the voltage on your cpu so that it does not get damaged. I am sorry this is probably what you didn't want to hear.

A 95W Phenom II is safe up to 71C.

A 125W/140W Phenom is safe up to 62C.

http://products.amd.com/en-US/DesktopCPUResult.aspx

Click "View Detail" and it will show you the max safe temp for you CPU.

On most AMD motherboards once the CPU temps pass 68C - 72C with a 125W/140W or 80C on a 95W, it will trip the thermal safety and the system will likely just shut off or cut the multiplier and voltages WAY down to preserve the CPU.

Intel CPUs can hit 90C and be fine, AMD CPUs cannot without consequences.
